she notices
i promise you she notices. if you're awake right now, laying in bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering if she notices all the little things you don't tell her. i promise you, she does. she notices all of the little things you do for her. she notices the way you sweep your hair. she notices the way your glasses sit just on the bridge of your nose causing you to push them up every so often. she notices how you shake your leg when you're anxious. or the way you clench your jaw when you're angry. she notices the fact that you never raise your voice at her. she notices that your friends all know her name. she notices every time you mention something you like, making sure to keep a mental note of it. she notices that you smile when quietly watching her fall asleep on facetime and quickly look away every time her eyes flutter open. she notices how blunt you are with everyone else, except her, because you have a little soft spot for her that you'd never admit. she notices that you're a lot like her. she notices the little shapes and animals you fold out of paper when you're bored. she notices the fact that you never let her walk on the side of the road. she notices that you never say anything when her tummy rumbles as she lays in your arms. she notices that you laugh at every joke she makes, even when they're not funny. she notices how you wait for her to cross the road safely before walking away. and how you turn back to check on her 5 times. she notices the way you smile as you notice her from afar. she notices the way you don't break eye contact when talking to her. she notices the respectful placement off your hands around her waist when you pull her in close. she notices the way you smile at the little girl playing with the dog and waving at you on the train. she notices your same order every time you eat out. she notices all the old baby pictures of you and your childhood pet covering the walls of your home. she notices the little scabs on your fingers from working your hands to the bone. she notices the little spark in your eyes when you talk about something you love. she notices the way your tone changes when talking to her parents. she notices. all of the little things you probably don't. like do you notice how she pushes your hair aside, because she prefers it on the other side of your face? or how she giggles at how you squint your eyes when fixing your glasses? do you notice that she nudges you when your leg shakes, almost to knock you back into reality, to remind you that she's there with you, by your side? do you notice that she studies every inch of your face when you're not looking? do you notice that she slips those little paper animals into her pocket to keep? do you notice how she always walks on the road side on purpose because she loves when you pull her in and keep her safe? do you notice that she shudders and her pulse starts racing when her tummy rumbles, in the hopes that you never heard it? do you notice that she has to look away when she's talking to you because she's intimidated by the way you stare straight into her soul? do you notice how she gazes at you in awe when she sees how you are with little kids? do you notice she always orders the same as you but never finishes her food, because she knows your still hungry? do you notice how she gently smiles as she traces her fingers over your rough hands because of how proud she is of you? do you notice how quiet she is when you talk because she loves listening to the sound of you voice? do you notice that she can't help but give you a cheeky smirk when her parents are around because she knows how hard you're trying to make a good impression? i promise you, she notices all of the little things that you probably don't.
